The
Big Listen week is not only about fundraising. It is also about
having fun and helping young people to get their voice heard. The
topic for 2005 was the Big Question - getting young people to ask adults about the issues that really interest them. That will never go out of style, so even though Big Listen 2005 is over, there's loads you can do!
Here are a few ideas:
- Invite a group of young people to your workplace/office for
an hour's guided tour (don’t forget, many of them will never
have been in an office before and this can be an exciting experience)
- Get a group of your colleagues together and work with a local
youth group or school to organise your very own Big Breakfast, a chance for young people to ask adults questions. You can specify
a topic that all parties are interested in to make it easier
- Why not try the simple listening and
questioning games at work with your colleagues? When you've mastered them at work,
take them home and try them with your children, nephews and nieces.
There are hundreds of other possibilities too, so have a think
with your colleagues and get planning!
