Different Questions?
Have you read our top tips on how to ask questions on the Big Question
page? If not check it out. Asking different types of questions can
get very different results. Play these quick and easy games to see
how good you are at questioning and listening!
Who am I?
- Find a partner that you can play the game with, they can be
a family member, friend, teacher or anyone who wants to join in.
- Your partner picks a famous person and doesn't tell you,
- You ask them questions that can only be answered with a YES
or NO.
- Your partner will respond with only YES/NO answers until you
get it right or you have used up 20 questions.
- Then you switch over and your partner has to guess a famous
person that you pick.
YES NO
- Find a partner that you can play the game with, they can be
a family member, friend, teacher or anyone who wants to join in.
- Use a stopwatch or timer.
- Your partner has to ask you as many questions as possible in
1 minute. Your partner should ask you closed questions, those
which you will naturally want to respond to with a YES or NO answer.
For example, Is your name Billy?
- You must resist the urge to respond with a YES or NO answer
and think of clever ways of answering the questions. For example,
My first name is Billy.
- The game finishes if you:
- take more than 5 seconds to answer a question
- answer YES or NO to a question
- last for a minute without saying YES or NO. In which case you
win!
It's all about questioning
- Find a partner that you can play the game with, they can be
a family member, friend, teacher or anyone who wants to join in.
- Use a stopwatch or timer.
- For two minutes you can only ask questions. When your partner
asks you a question, you must respond with one too. For example:
- Is your favourite food pasta?
- Yes it is. Do you like pizza?
- The game finishes if you run out of questions or the two minutes
has passed
Question time
Put your teachers to the test! See how many questions they can
answer in one minute. Make it a competition and put them head to
head. Who will win? The geography department or the maths department?
The head teacher or the deputy head?
